THE GODFATHER OF SALSA
SAMER GEORGES
Across the pond, where powder blue skies soar above desert land, Samer Georges was born in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1971. As the middle son of three boys, he grew up in a modest household with his mother, a school principal, and his father, an X-ray technician. His passion for exploring the world grew and in 1995, at the age of 23, he moved to the United States, making his dream a reality.
Soon after arriving in the U.S., Samer’s love for Salsa was ignited. Inspired by the legendary Eddie Torres and his iconic New York Style Mambo "Salsa On 2", Samer was captivated by the rhythm, groove, and passion of the dance. With a natural talent and an eagerness to learn, Samer quickly became a skilled dancer and was invited to join the dance company “REVOLU” led by Gordon Neil. His performances took him across the U.S., building and forming lifelong friendships with fellow dancers, connections that remain strong to this day.
His love for Salsa deepened even further when he joined the YA Salsa Team, a community that became his second family. When the founding members decided to step down, Samer stepped up without hesitation. As President and Co-Founder, he poured his heart, sweat, and tears into shaping YA Salsa into the thriving community it is today. Building unity through multiple dance communities, in and outside the US borders.
Now, as he embarks on a new chapter in his life, Samer brings with him decades of experience, ambition, and an unwavering commitment to his vision. With excitement and gratitude, he sincerely and personally welcomes you to the House of Godfather. Welcome!
"Looking forward to serving you!"
